Purpose

Purpose of the Sirii ED Network 

One of the most significant obstacles when performing an LCA, or the like, where numerical, environmental data are used, is the availability of well-documented inventory data. Well-documented environmental data that is of relevance in LCAs performed outside of the institutes are constantly being generated on the individual Sirii institutes. To help spread the knowledge and facilitate the use of analytical tools, such as LCA, within the industry the Sirii ED Network has taken the following actions: 

Created a commonly accessible, user-friendly application (free of charge) based on a specified documentation format - Sirii SPINE (compatible with SPINE). The application is independent of, but compatible with, commercial LCA-software (where calculations may be made). It allows for documentation and communication of environmental data.
Created a common platform, where the well-documented inventory data generated at the Sirii institutes are available.

It is our hope that the Sirii ED Application as well as the Sirii ED platform will help facilitate a cost-efficient product-oriented environmental work, in line with the IPP (Integrated Product Policy) concept, within companies.
